Five Aspects of Guide School

Welcome to Guide School. Can you imagine being a guide? Being a guide is important in any profession. To be a guide, you must have the skills to navigate the people you are trying to help.  If you are going to do your taxes, you are going to need a guide to fill them out correctly. If you are going to pass a driver's license exam, you will need a guide about the rules and regulations of the road and how to pass the different exams successfully. Everything we do in life, buying a home, buying a car, enjoying our vacation time, can all become smoother and easier when we have a guide to help us out.

At Kaivala, we examine the need for guides in all aspects of our lives. The five different aspects of guiding are Physical Balance, Mental Balance, Emotional Balance, Social Balance, and Karmic Balance. As a guide, if we skip one of these aspects, it can ruin or cause damage to our experiences. Physical Balance is how we balance our bodies in the world. Mental Balance is all about using our minds in the best possible way so that we can move through our world intelligently. Emotional Balance is all about dealing with our emotions that come up. And Karmic Balance is fundamental for us to get the lives we most wish as whatever we want, we must help others achieve.

To become a guide, some basic principles are universal. These ideas will work no matter what kind of guidance you wish to provide. The five aspects of guiding will always be in any choice or direction that you want to go.

You will need to be familiar with your area. You will need to be familiar with your clients. You will need to know yourself. (To thine own self be true and you will not be false to any man.)

In guide school, we will be examining each of these in detail so that we can better understand ourselves, our clients, and how to provide better service to all.
